Drink a lot with low blood pressure | What to do if your blood pressure is low?

Drink a lot with low blood pressure

People who suffer from low blood pressure should make sure that they drink enough fluids. They should drink more water and not sugary drinks such as lemonade. The daily drinking amount should be at least 2 liters, but can also exceed this.

Persons with kidney damage should consult a doctor if they want to increase the amount they drink, otherwise the kidneys could be damaged more. Drinking a lot leads to an increased blood volume. The increased fluid volume in the organism promotes the circulation and causes higher blood pressure values. However, this effect lasts only for a short period of time, so that a continuous supply of liquid is essential.

How effective are alternating showers?

Alternate showers are a simple way to achieve a lasting increase in blood pressure. This is a simplified water therapy. After showering, one should shower with very warm water.

This is followed by showering with cold water. You start with the feet, followed by the legs and if it is not too cold the rest of the body. This should last for a few minutes until the skin gets used to the new water temperature.

After that you start again with the warm water. This change between warm and cold water should be repeated a few times. Alternate showers should be used after each shower.

They train the vessels and cause them to expand and contract quickly. This improves circulation and increases blood pressure in hypotension. Further positive effects have also been proven. Alternate showers strengthen the immune system, promote the blood circulation of the skin and the skin becomes altogether firmer. Eat more salt

If you have low blood pressure, it is recommended to eat more salt. You should eat about 6 grams a day. Usually this amount is exceeded, which is one of the causes of high blood pressure (hypertension).

However, people with low blood pressure should eat more than the recommended 6 grams. This allows them, for example, to season their dishes more with common salt or to use salt sticks more often. The salt in the body causes water to be retained.

In this way, less fluid is excreted and the volume of fluid increases. The consequences are similar to those of increased drinking. The blood volume increases, which causes the blood pressure to rise.
