Duration of pain/swelling
Typically, the tissue around the joint swells up very quickly, causing pain and bruising. These symptoms usually last for about a week. The symptoms can be alleviated with specific measures such as cooling.
If the joint is not protected, the swelling can remain and so can the pain, especially when the joint is moved. One should refrain from sports until the torn capsule on the finger has completely healed. Several weeks may pass until the complete healing process is complete.
Even if the symptoms such as swelling and pain subside after a few days, you should be patient until the joint capsule has fully recovered. During this healing period, specific physiotherapy movements should be made and otherwise the affected finger should be spared. It is best to ask your attending physician during the check-ups when this sport is allowed again.
