Flashbacks

Flashbacks are also called reverberation memories or re-experiencing situations and play an important role in the context of mental illness. They represent temporary, involuntary memories of certain situations and are often triggered by certain “triggers” or stimuli such as certain melodies, smells or even places. They can evoke very different feelings in the affected person and are often accompanied by vegetative physical reactions such as sweating, palpitations or even nausea.
