There are dementia diseases which can be reversible. The course of the disease is determined by the underlying disease process. If a treatment option is available and is started quickly, the dementia symptoms that have developed can be completely regressed.

Only about 10% of all diseases with dementia syndrome are reversible if treated in time and appropriately. These include causes of disease such as the misuse of medicines, alcohol or drugs, brain tumours or bleeding, depression with pseudodementia and brain diseases caused by hormones.
