Gas Gangrene: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of gas gangrene group clostridial infections.

Family history

  • What is the general health status of your relatives?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • Are you experiencing any pain? Where is this pain localized?
  • Have you injured yourself recently? Was/is the wound dirty?
  • What does the wound look like?
  • Is secretion coming out of the wound? What does the secretion look like? What does it smell like?
  • What does the skin around the wound look like?
  • Have you noticed any increase in circumference of the affected region?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you use drugs? If yes, which drugs and how often per day or per week?

Self history incl. medication history.
