Giant Cell Tumor (Osteoclastoma): Complications

The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be contributed to by a giant cell tumor (osteoclastoma):

Musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (M00-M99).

  • Restriction of movement due to limitation of joint activity.
  • Secondary osteoarthritis (joint wear) – in osteoclastoma close to the joint surface.

Neoplasms – tumor diseases (C00-D48)

  • Malignant (malignant) degeneration (very rare).
  • Metastasis (formation of daughter tumors) (rare) – especially pulmonary (to the lungs).

Psyche – nervous system (F00-F99; G00-G99).

  • Depression

Symptoms and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified (R00-R99)

  • Chronic pain

Injuries, poisonings, and other consequences of external causes (S00-T98)

  • Pathologic fractures (broken bones) – due to the bone tumor, the affected bone loses strength
