History
The Reye syndrome was first described in Australia in 1963. The first describer was the pathologist Ralph Douglas Kenneth Reye (*05. 04.
1912 in Townsville, †16. 07. 1977). However, several years passed before the connection between the disease and the possible triggers (viral infections, Aspirin®) could be established.
