After that they are usually no longer cold enough to have a real effect. Ice packs should also never be put directly on the skin, so it is best to wrap them in a kitchen towel or a towel. In addition, short cold foot and calf baths can also alleviate the symptoms.

Quark wraps are a proven household remedy for all types of inflammation. To make a quark wrap you need kitchen paper and regular curd cheese. In order for the quark wrap to be cold, you should put the quark in the fridge and take it out of the fridge immediately before use.

To make a quark wrap you put some quark on a piece of kitchen paper. This can then be folded so that the quark is completely covered by kitchen paper. The curd wrap is placed on the inflamed Achilles tendon.

You can fix it additionally with a kitchen towel. It is best to produce several quark wraps directly and put the remaining wraps in the refrigerator for later. In this way, the kitchen roll can soak up the quark, which increases its cooling effect.

Stretching is an exercise that should be used especially after the first acute phase of Achilles tendonitis. The inflammation and the pain associated with it lead to the affected leg being spared. In addition, the Achilles tendon is moved and stretched as little as possible, since every movement causes pain.

After a few days, this already leads to shortening of the Achilles tendon. Due to the inflammatory processes, the tendon can also easily stick together. Once the inflammation has subsided somewhat, stretching exercises should therefore be started as early as possible.

However, these only make sense if not every millimeter of movement is associated with severe pain. In the beginning, some stretching exercises should be practiced with the responsible physiotherapists and doctors. These can then be easily incorporated into everyday life, for example when climbing stairs or brushing your teeth.

The most effective way of doing the exercises is to do them regularly and for a short time. For example, more is usually gained by stretching the Achilles tendons three times a day for three to five minutes when brushing your teeth than by taking half an hour every other day. For the stretching exercises, it is usually sufficient to place the tip of the foot against the wall, move the heel towards the floor and stretch the calf.

On a staircase, you can stand on the step with the balls of your feet, and then move your heels below the horizontal level of the step. Castor oil is applied to the skin immediately above the Achilles tendon and calf muscles when treating Achilles tendon inflammation. Its ingredients have an anti-inflammatory effect on the Achilles tendon.

At the same time, they promote the metabolism in the muscles and thus help the body to better fight the inflammation. Ideally, the castor oil should be massaged correctly into the calf. The additional massage promotes blood circulation and metabolism in the calf muscles and the Achilles tendon.

Wedges are used for Achilles tendon inflammation in shoes. Thus one runs permanently quasi easily on the toes. The Achilles tendon is less tensed and stretched in this position, which relieves the tendon and reduces pain and inflammation. It is important to use the wedges in both shoes so that there is no difference in leg length.

Capsaicin is a painkiller which is extracted from cayenne pepper. It is contained in many pain ointments and is used mainly for muscle and back pain. It develops an external warming effect and thus improves the blood circulation in the aching tissue.

At the Achilles tendon it is therefore not necessarily recommended in an acute inflammatory phase with overheating of the tendon. In the later course, however, a stimulation of the blood circulation is well suited to better combat the remaining centres of inflammation.
