Household remedies for various applications
Acne manifests itself in the form of blackheads, small pustules or, in very severe cases, in the form of melting nodules that heal as scars, especially in areas of the body that have a large number of sebaceous glands, such as the face, décolleté, shoulder area and back. Since acne is not only a cosmetic blemish for the affected patients, but can also lead to a strong psychological strain, there are, in addition to many medications, also well-known home remedies available, which can alleviate the course of acne, prevent further occurrence and care for the affected, damaged skin. Due to a high number of sebaceous glands, the skin on the back is a common place where acne can manifest itself.
A popular household remedy is the healing clay. The powder is mixed with a little water and the resulting paste should be spread over a large area of the back and left for some time to take effect. The healing earth cleans the skin of sebum and dirt, has an anti-inflammatory effect and dries out pimples. Also the application of aloe vera or tea tree oil, soothes the skin on the back and removes the inflammation.
Peelings, which can be made from sea salt, have a coarser structure and are therefore particularly good at removing dirt and sebum from the pores and cleaning damaged skin. Simply mix sea salt with lemon juice and massage the skin with it. In addition to stimulating the blood circulation, it also provides the skin with important moisture.
However, the peeling should not be used on open pimples, as this can cause a strong burning sensation due to the acidity in the lemon juice. In severe cases of acne, many patients develop scars in the healing process. These are not only cosmetically unattractive, but depending on their localization they can also lead to severe impairment and stress.
In order to prevent scarring in acne, it is a general rule that pimples should not be expressed. However, if scars are already present, there are also some home remedies that can lead to an improvement. An effective remedy against scars is zinc.
It is easy to apply in the form of ointments or for example Penaten® cream. Zinc has a disinfecting effect and can promote wound healing. It can also lighten acne scars so that they become pale and less noticeable.
For very fresh scars, the use of almond or argan oil is recommended. Daily care of the skin with the oil keeps the tissue loose and soft. An increasing hardening of the scar will not occur and it will be less pronounced.
White cabbage leaves can also help against scars. Simply roll over the leaves with a rolling pin and then place them on the affected areas. The juice contained in the white cabbage leaves can escape and care for the scar and the surrounding skin.
For the further care of scars, healing earth can also be used, as in the fight against acne, since it contains a strong nourishing and regenerating component in addition to its antibacterial effect and can accelerate the healing of scars. For the treatment of acne on the face, the same home remedies that are used on their parts of the body are used. Steam baths are especially good for the face.
Boil water and add chamomile, aloe vera, vinegar or rosemary. With the face over the warm water and a towel over the head, the steam bath can work for about 15 – 20 minutes. The heat opens the pores and the natural additives can clean, nourish and disinfect the impurities and pimples on the skin.
With a weekly application the damaged skin can be soothed and acne begins to heal. The face is also particularly well suited for the application of masks. Masks made of healing earth and natural yogurt dry out the pimples and fight the bacteria on the skin surface that contribute to the development of acne.
Also the application of facial toners with the addition of rose oil or green tea not only gives a fresh complexion to damaged skin, but also has a calming effect on the facial skin and supports the healing of acne. Particularly in the face, attention should be paid to adequate care, as the formation of scars in this part of the body can be a particular strain. Pimples are numerously present in acne.
By squeezing out the existing germs can spread further and attack still healthy skin areas and lead to new skin changes. Therefore, independent manual manipulation of the pimples should be avoided if possible. The aim of most household remedies that are used specifically against pimples is to dry out the blisters and thus prevent the further spread of germs.
If you rub the pimples with zinc ointment or tea tree oil, the moisture is removed and they dry out. Soda can also be mixed with a little water to form a paste and applied to the pimples. It has an antibacterial effect, dries out the pimples and can prevent the formation of further impurities.
By using brewer’s yeast, more oxygen is supplied to the skin, which gives damaged and irritated skin cells new strength to regenerate. In addition, the vitamins in brewer’s yeast ensure that the skin’s fat balance is rebalanced by removing excess fat from the skin. The bacteria present are inhibited and restricted in their growth because they no longer feel comfortable under the changed conditions. Brewer’s yeast can be used in the form of masks or tablets.
If pimples appear and there is nothing suitable for treatment at home, conventional toothpaste can also be used to contain the germs. Toothpaste can also dry out the pimples and kill the germs.
