Observance of the following special dietary recommendations:
Since iodine deficiency is still the most common cause of hypothyroidism worldwide, care should be taken to ensure adequate iodine intake, i.e. 1-2 times a week a meal with fresh sea fish (preferably fatty sea fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel, as this will simultaneously include the important omega-3 fatty acids) and the use of iodized table salt.
