Ilon ointment

Introduction

Under the name Ilon® Ointment, various products for application on the skin are manufactured by Cesra Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. KG. Depending on the reason for application, different ointments can be recommended. All products have in common that mostly herbal active ingredients are used, which care for the skin and can help in the treatment of various symptoms of the skin.

Besides ointments, which mainly achieve a general skin care and thus prevent diseases and complaints, there are also ointments of the Ilon® product line, which can be used for acute and special symptoms. Popular applications are the treatment of pimples and abscesses under the skin as well as redness and sore spots caused by mechanical irritation. A consultation with the pharmacy staff can clarify which ointment is suitable for the individual application. The treating dermatologist can also give a recommendation as to which ointment is recommended. To avoid allergic reactions, only a small area of skin should be treated with the product at first.

Indication and application

The indications of the ointments differ depending on the product used. The so-called Ilon® ointment classic is purchased particularly frequently, which can be used for locally inflamed skin areas. These include pimples and small abscesses under the skin as well as nail bed inflammation or carbuncles.

An early application of the ointment can prevent a possible escalation of this inflammation which affects the whole body. Besides the Ilon® ointments, which are used for inflammations and abscesses, there are also ointments which have a caring effect on the skin. Sore areas, which show up as redness or itchy dry areas, can be cared for and treated with this ointment. Pressure points or skin damaged by other mechanical irritation can also be treated with these ointments. It is recommended to apply the ointments even before an expected strain as a prophylaxis before the sore spots develop.

Effect

Ilon® ointments contain mainly plant-based active ingredients, which are intended to treat local inflammation of the skin and under the skin. The main active ingredient of the anti-inflammatory ointments is the so-called larch turpentine. This active ingredient, which is extracted from the larch, has an anti-inflammatory effect and is therefore well suited for use in the treatment of local inflammation of the skin.

The active ingredient is also said to have an antiseptic effect. The reproduction of bacteria or viruses that cause and maintain the inflammation is thus also inhibited. A further effect of the active ingredients contained in the ointment is the promotion of blood circulation.

This leads to accelerated healing through the body’s own immune reaction. The effect of those ointments that are less likely to cause inflammation on or under the skin, but rather treat and prevent sore and dry skin areas, is based on other active ingredients. Depending on the product, certain oils as well as zinc oxide are contained, which care for the skin and are used to treat wounds. Depending on the indication, the active ingredients of the respective ointments therefore differ. Depending on the purpose for which the ointment is to be used, it is therefore advisable to consult a pharmacist or dermatologist to find the right product.
