MERS Coronavirus: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of illness caused by MERS coronavirus.

Family history

  • What is your profession?
  • When and where were you last on vacation?
  • Have you had contact with sick persons recently (14 days)? Are these persons suspected of having an infectious disease affecting the lungs?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • How long have these symptoms been present?
  • Do you feel ill? Worn out or tired?
  • Do you have a fever? If so, for how long and what is the temperature?
  • Do you have shortness of breath?*
  • Do you have a cough? Sputum?
  • Do you have diarrhea? If so, what do the stools look like?
  • What other symptoms have you noticed?
