Paratyphoid Fever: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of paratyphoid fever.

Family history

  • What is the general health of your relatives?

Social history

  • What is your profession?
  • Have you been abroad recently? If so, where exactly?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Have you noticed any symptoms of an influenza-like infection?
  • How long have these symptoms persisted?
  • Do you have a fever? If so, what is the temperature and how long has it been present? Does the temperature fluctuate during the day?
  • Do you suffer from gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea? If so, what does the bowel movement look like?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you eaten raw foods recently?
  • Have you possibly drunk contaminated water?

Self history including medication history.
