Prognosis

About 85 percent of autologous cartilage transplants are considered a success. Since the method has only been developed in the last few decades and has been varied over a process lasting many years and has gained in popularity and awareness, there are no results of large-scale scientific studies on the long-term success of autologous cartilage transplantation. Nevertheless, based on individual experience, experts assess the long-term development as promising.

Even many years after the procedure, it is possible to achieve a relevant reduction in symptoms or complete freedom from symptoms through autologous cartilage transplantation. Unfortunately, a therapeutic success can never be guaranteed.
