Prognosis

The 5-year survival rate (5 JÜR) is used as a prognostic value for cancer. For example, patients suffering from lung carcinoma who may have metastases in the trachea have a 5-year survival rate of 5%. A prognosis always depends on the stage and extent of the tumor. The earlier the cancer is diagnosed and treated, the better the prognosis.
