Renal Anemia: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of renal anemia.

Family history

  • Is there a history of frequent renal disease in your family?

Social history

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Have you noticed symptoms such as decreased performance, difficulty concentrating, or fatigue?
  • Have you noticed skin symptoms such as rhagades at the corners of the mouth, aphthae on the oral mucosa, or pale skin/mucous membranes)?
  • Has there been any change in your skin color?
  • Do you have hair loss or brittle nails?
  • Have you noticed any symptoms such as night sweats or fever?
  • Do you have a decrease in performance?
  • How long have these symptoms been present?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you noticed any unwanted changes in body weight?
  • Are you eating a balanced diet?

Self history incl. medication history

  • Pre-existing conditions (renal disease)
