What is the rice diet
There are different forms of rice diets that have in common that rice is the main ingredient of all meals. In the rice diet, only a small number of calories between 850 and 1,000 calories per day are consumed and little fat is added to the body to melt away the pounds. Originally, the German-American physician Walter Kemper developed this diet form as a strictly low-sodium diet for the treatment of high blood pressure. The rice diet is designed to flush excess water out of the body and boost fat metabolism.
Procedure of the rice diet
In this mono-diet, the first few days you eat almost exclusively rice and after a few days vegetables, fruit and fish. With the strict form of the rice diet, three portions of rice of 60 grams dry weight each are eaten daily. According to taste, a little apple sauce or grated apple, salad and vegetables may be added.
Fruit and vegetables should be added to the diet plan from the second week at the latest. Fish and lean meat are added in the third week of the diet. In principle, salt should be avoided and a lot of water should be drunk.
It is possible to implement the rice diet in a moderate form, with fruit, vegetables, fish and lean meat on the menu from the beginning. The main component of the meals is however also with this form of the rice diet the rice, by whom in each meal 60 gram dry weight may be eaten. Salted foods such as smoked and cured products should be avoided.
Plan/weekly plan of the rice diet
The strict variant of the rice diet provides that in the first diet week three main meals are eaten, each containing 60 grams (dry weight) of rice. Intermediate meals are forbidden in the first week, sweetened drinks and salt should be avoided. In the first week of the diet, applesauce or grated apples may be added to breakfast to give the rice a natural sweetness.
For lunch and dinner, a little salad and vegetables may also be added in the first week. Do not add salt to the food. The second week of the diet also consists of three main meals a day with rice, but fruit and vegetables may be eaten in large quantities with the rice.
Finally, in the third week of the rice diet, fish and lean meat may be eaten with the rice, as may fruit and vegetables. This diet week serves to adapt to a long-term healthy and balanced diet. During the rice diet, snacks, especially sweets, sweetened drinks and alcohol should be avoided.
Exercise helps to additionally boost the circulation. If this rice diet plan is too strict, the moderate form of diet can be chosen. In this form of diet, fruit, vegetables, fish and lean meat may be eaten with the rice from the beginning. However, salt, snacks and hidden sources of sugar are strictly forbidden.
