Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS): Complications

The following are the major diseases or complications that may be contributed to by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS):

Respiratory system (J00-J99)

  • ARDS (acut respiratory distress syndrome; respiratory distress syndrome) – acute respiratory failure in a previously lung-healthy individual.
  • Pneumonia (pneumonia)

Musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (M00-M99)

Pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium (O00-O99).

  • Increased fetal mortality (mortality) in early pregnancy (first trimester of pregnancy, i.e., Kurt’s period up to the end of the 12th week of gestation (SSW)).
  • Increased maternal (maternal) mortality in the rest of pregnancy.
