The following are the major diseases or complications that may be contributed to by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS):
Respiratory system (J00-J99)
- ARDS (acut respiratory distress syndrome; respiratory distress syndrome) – acute respiratory failure in a previously lung-healthy individual.
- Pneumonia (pneumonia)
Musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (M00-M99)
- Femoral head necrosis – tissue death at the articular head of the femur due to an undersupply of blood because of treatment with glucocorticoids (e.g., methylprednisolone).
Pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium (O00-O99).
- Increased fetal mortality (mortality) in early pregnancy (first trimester of pregnancy, i.e., Kurt’s period up to the end of the 12th week of gestation (SSW)).
- Increased maternal (maternal) mortality in the rest of pregnancy.
