Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of speech and language disorders.
Family history
- Are there any disorders in your family that are common?
- Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?
Social history
- What is your profession?
- Did you learn to read and write in school?
Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- What symptoms have you noticed?
- Do you have any problems with:
- Reading?
- Recognition (differentiable into auditory, visual, pragmatic, tactile, visual agnosia)?
- Performing learned actions/movements?
- Writing?
- Calculate?
- Do you find it difficult to name things correctly?
- When did these symptoms first appear?
- Have you experienced any changes in the intensity of these symptoms?
- Besides these changes, have you noticed any other symptoms such as paralysis, headaches, dizziness, etc?
- Asking questions about orientation (temporal, spatial).
Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.
- Have vegetative processes such as thirst, appetite, urination, defecation changed?
Self history incl. medication history.
- Pre-existing conditions (tumors, inflammation, cardiovascular disease; head injuries).
