Speech and Language Disorders: Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

One can distinguish the following speech and language disorders:

  • Dyslexia / Alexia – impaired reading ability/inability to read.
  • Agnosia – recognition disorder despite intact perception; differentiable into auditory, visual, pragmatic, tactile, visual agnosia.
  • Apraxia – learned actions / movements can not be performed despite preserved perceptual and motor skills.
  • Agraphia – inability to write despite preserved motor skills as well as preserved intellect.
  • Acalculia – inability to calculate despite preserved intellect.
