Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnosticsand obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Abdominal ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of abdominal organs) – to exclude renal/liver changes.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG; recording of the electrical activity of the heart muscle) – for suspected rheumatic fever.
- Echocardiography (echo; heart ultrasound) – if rheumatic fever is suspected.
- X-ray of the chest (X-ray thorax/chest), in two planes – to exclude pneumonia (pneumonia).
- X-ray of the affected joints – if arthritis (inflammatory joint disease) is suspected.
- Computed tomography of the skull (cranial CT, cranial CT or cCT) – if chorea minor (Veittanz) is suspected.
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial MRI, cranial MRI or cMRI) – in suspected chorea minor.
