The skin itches, has red spots and pimples
Itchy skin is a widespread problem. Many different causes can be hidden behind itching. These range from internal diseases to chronic skin diseases, infections, allergies and intolerances.
Unsightly red spots and pimples are an additional burden for some people. There are various possible causes for such complaints. A possible cause for these symptoms is neurodermatitis, which is also called atopic eczema in professional circles. Pimples in the conventional sense are not particularly typical, but can occur.
A special form of neurodermatitis is dyshidrosis, which is characterized by itching, eczema, redness and small blisters and pimples on the palms of the hands and feet. The pimples are not to be compared with pimples known from acne, but rather resemble rather small blisters, which, however, are difficult to recognize as such at first and are easily confused. Parasitic diseases, such as scabies or bedbugs, are also possible.
Pimples are not typical symptoms, but the reddish skin symptoms that develop in the course of such diseases are often confused with pimples. In technical terminology, however, these are more commonly referred to as papules. Other possible causes are intolerances or allergies.
Shaving can also lead to skin irritation, which manifests itself as redness, itching and small pimples. Shaving, especially if not done gently, can lead to skin irritation in the form of redness, itching and small pimples. It is therefore advisable to ensure that the skin is well prepared for shaving.
Especially sensitive skin areas such as the intimate area, the face or the armpits react quickly with redness and itching. Shaving products can also cause intolerance and irritation, as can unhygienic blades. To avoid such irritations, fresh blades should always be used.
Furthermore, the skin should be cared for with moisturizing creams or lotions after shaving. Especially dry skin tends to itch. Before shaving, warm water can help prepare the skin and make shaving easier.
A good time to shave is after the shower. Special shaving soaps can also make shaving easier. If you are prone to redness and itching, you can also apply baby powder to the shaved skin after shaving.
This helps many people very well to soothe the skin and avoid irritation. Redness and itching can also occur occasionally after showering. There are sometimes several reasons for this.
A possible reason for red spots and itching after showering is too hot shower water or too long a showering time. Both can attack the fat and acid protective film of the skin and promote red spots, itching and also the development of small pimples. Shower water should be lukewarm to avoid such irritations.
A shower duration of 10 minutes should also not be exceeded, as this is harmful to the skin. Shower gels can also be the cause of such skin problems. If skin irritation occurs repeatedly, it may be useful to simply change the shower gel.
Possibly there is an intolerance. Also an incorrect drying of the skin after showering is the reason for red spots and itching in some people. One should avoid rubbing the skin dry.
Instead, one should dab the skin dry with a clean towel and avoid strong rubbing. After a sunburn the skin is severely affected and shows typical changes. Skin redness and itching are very typical.
One must imagine sunburn as a kind of burning of the skin. The skin loses a lot of fluid through the burn and is therefore very sensitive. Cooling and rich skin care are therefore very important to quickly restore the disturbed skin barrier.
In the acute phase of sunburn, cooling compresses, such as quark compresses, are especially recommended to calm the skin. If the sunburn is only minor, creams and lotions with weakly effective cortisones can be used. In the case of severe sunburn or large expansion, tablets with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving active ingredients, such as diclofenac, are used.
After the acute phase, proper skin care is very important. Moisturizing lotions and creams can be applied several times a day. The sun should also be avoided until the skin has healed completely.
There are various reasons why the skin reacts irritated after applying the cream. The nature of the reaction often reveals a lot about the cause. If redness, itching, burning, pimples, blisters or even hives appear immediately after applying the cream, it is probably due to an allergy to the ingredients of the cream. If the symptoms subside within a few hours, it is probably an allergy of the immediate type.
If the symptoms appear with a delay and subside after about two days, a late-type allergy is more likely. Too frequent application of lotion and the use of many products can also lead to such skin irritations. Especially in the face, such over-care can lead to perioral dermatitis (inflammatory reaction of the skin around the mouth).
This disease, also known as stewardess’s disease, manifests itself by scaling, itching, redness and burning in the area of mouth and nose. In such cases, it is recommended to skip the care products once. Sweating is an important and natural cooling function of the body.
In some cases, however, sweating can also lead to skin irritation in the form of red spots or itching. Increased sweating dries out the skin and thus tends to itch. Redness is also not uncommon.
Functional clothing should therefore be worn, especially during sports or a lot of exercise. This prevents heat accumulation and helps to prevent skin irritation. It virtually absorbs the sweat and prevents it from causing irritation to the skin.
Synthetic materials, such as polyester, should be avoided in particular, as a film of sweat easily forms on the skin underneath them. Furthermore, the skin should be cared for with pH-neutral and moisturizing creams and lotions if such irritations are noticed. Very hot or spicy food should be avoided, as this further promotes sweat production.
Alcohol also has similar negative effects. Especially when sweating heavily, one should also make sure to drink enough to prevent dry skin. People who are overweight should also strive to reduce their weight. Being very overweight promotes the production of sweat.
