Introduction
The vas deferens valve is an invention of a Berlin master carpenter. It is a valve that regulates the mixing of the sperm with the man’s ejaculate. It is implanted in the spermatic ducts and can be switched on and off by pressing a button on the testicles. This means that the vas deferens do not have to be cut like in the contraceptive method of vasectomy. It should have no negative effects on the body and guarantee lifelong sterility.
Why should you do that?
The vas deferens valve is intended to be a new alternative to the contraceptive methods currently available to men: condoms and vasectomy. Since, unlike vasectomy, the male sterility should be preserved, the inventor advertises on his website under the title “The Revolution of Contraception“. The valve can be switched on and off by a button, which is attached under the skin on the testicles.
In this way contraception can be stopped at any time. Since this method of contraception is hormone-free, it should not cause any side effects that would otherwise occur as a result of hormone preparations. There is only one person in the world who wears this implant – the inventor himself.
So there have been no medical studies on this new contraceptive method to date. The website is being searched for test persons for a study. In view of these facts about the spermatic valve, this question cannot be answered at this stage.
How does it work?
First of all, the patient should undergo a preliminary medical examination. The urologist will then also examine the patient for any anomalies and answer any questions that remain unanswered. The operation itself is performed under local anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes.
During this procedure, the spermatic ducts are cut and then reconnected by the implant. The vas deferens are then returned to the scrotum. The inner skin layer is closed with absorbable thread material, the outer skin layer with a medical adhesive.
If the valve is closed after the implantation, it is assumed that sperm are still in the ejaculate for up to three months. It is therefore advisable to have a spermiogram prepared by a urologist. This is the only way to ensure that you are sterile.
