Therapy of pain in thigh and hip
The treatment of pain in the thigh and hip depends on the cause. For acute pain, painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac can be helpful. Furthermore, physical protection and the application of cold or heat, in the form of cool packs or warm wraps, can alleviate the pain.
This can be adapted individually depending on the type and severity of the pain. Applying the Voltaren cream also leads to an improvement for some patients. Many sufferers also benefit from local injection of painkillers or anesthetics.
In addition to the acute treatment of the pain, the cause of the pain should always be treated as well.In the case of a meralgia paraesthetica with incarceration of a nerve, an attempt should be made to relieve it. In case of hip arthrosis, surgical replacement of the joint should be considered, depending on the degree of joint wear and tear and the pain. Since many causes of pain in the thigh and hip are favored by risk factors such as overweight and incorrect weight bearing, attention should also be paid to a balanced diet and sufficient exercise.
Duration of pain in the thigh and hip
The duration of pain in the thigh and hip is highly dependent on the underlying cause. If, for example, it is a pulled muscle or minor injury, the pain usually subsides after a few days to weeks with appropriate physiotherapy and treatment. Unfortunately, in the case of a degenerative disease, such as hip arthrosis, the pain usually lasts longer. Early treatment is therefore very important, especially for these causes.
Prognosis of pain in the thigh and hip
The prognosis of pain in the thigh and hip is highly dependent on the cause of the pain. If this is detected early, effective treatment can usually be provided to prevent the pain from progressing. However, in the case of hip arthrosis, for example, the right therapy is often applied late, so that it cannot always provide the desired pain reduction.
