These household remedies can help with mucosal inflammation!

Overview

  • Warm oil (olive/coconut): For a massage
  • Cold compresses: You can wrap ice cubes in a towel
  • Cider vinegar: Can be put on a cotton cloth and applied to the affected joint
  • Fresh ginger: Has an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect. Should be wrapped in a towel, placed briefly in hot water, allowed to cool and then placed on the affected joint for 10 minutes.
  • Willow bark: anti-inflammatory and analgesic
  • Castor oil: Should be put on a towel and placed on the affected joint, cover with plastic foil and let it take effect
  • Turmeric: Should one drink, has an anti-inflammatory effect
  • Guava cure Guavas have plenty of vitamin C. This has a soothing effect on painful inflammations. If you boil guavas and drink the water over a certain period of time, this can be beneficial for the course of the disease.

Whether to apply heat or cold is a common question in orthopedics.

In the case of bursitis, however, a cooling element should always be used. Heat promotes the inflammatory process rather than helping it. Some cells of the body’s own immune system perform their activity more intensively when a certain temperature is reached in the body or in the corresponding tissue.

This is why the body reacts with fever in some cases of inflammation or infection. Heat should rather be used in the area of the spine or the muscle groups in that area if tension is present and the blood circulation is to be increased. The curd wrap is one of the best known home remedies against inflammation.

In addition to its cooling and thus often pain-relieving effect, the phosphate it contains also has a stimulating effect on the healing process. In addition, the curd wrap often helps to let the swelling subside. It should be noted that the quark absorbs the warmth of the affected area very quickly and must therefore be replaced frequently, otherwise the effect diminishes.

To do this, it is sufficient to rub simple table quark from the refrigerator onto the painful area, cover it with a cloth or bandage and then fix it in place. Simply remove after the reaction time and apply again if necessary. Willow bark contains the substance salicin, which was isolated at the time of discovery and used to produce acetylsalicylic acid.

It is therefore understandable that willow bark is also capable of having an analgesic effect. In addition to pain relief, willow bark also has the effect of reducing fever and inhibiting inflammation. Consequently, one achieves similar effects as ASA.

The products of willow bark are versatile. From dragées to powder, to tablets, drops or boiled up as tea, there are different possibilities to take this natural remedy. Apple cider vinegar is a product with a very wide range of applications.

In addition to taking it to combat ravenous appetite attacks, heartburn, flatulence and dull skin, apple vinegar can also be used against inflammation. If the inflammations are of bacterial origin, the apple vinegar is well suited because it has an antibacterial effect. It is also said to have a blood circulation-promoting and “purifying” effect.

Both are valuable in the case of inflammations, as the “waste” that occurs during inflammation is removed and the tissue can regenerate more quickly. Rhizinus oil is originally known as a laxative because it promotes intestinal motility (intestinal movement) and is thus used for “detoxification“. However, more recently other effects have been attributed to the oil.

The anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect is important for bursitis. Ginger is also said to have a similar mode of action to acetylsalicylic acid, i.e. the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory, widely used drug. Here, the analgesic effect of ginger has been best investigated and proven.

Ginger is also said to help against nausea and vomiting and can be used especially during pregnancy or in addition to chemotherapy. However, there are also people who react more sensitively to ginger, for example those who take anticoagulants or suffer from gallstones. The anti-inflammatory effect is said to be due to the reduced production of NfkB by ginger.

NfkB is a crucial molecule in our body, which is partly responsible for inflammatory reactions.Dimethysulfoxide is the pharmaceutical agent behind the abbreviation DMSO. It is an organic solvent and is known for its versatility. Its effect on inflammation is particularly interesting.

It is said to be able to bind free radicals and thus have an antioxidant effect in the focus of inflammation. Free radicals are responsible for cell destruction and thus promote the inflammatory reaction. In addition, DMSO is said to have an analgesic and vasodilating effect.

These two effects also have a positive effect on the course of bursitis in the knee. The product cucurmin contained in turmeric is also said to have antioxidant effects. In addition to the antioxidative effect, it also inhibits pro-inflammatory enzymes such as cyclooxygenase 2 and lipoxygenase.

These enzymes synthesize prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are the substances that can trigger inflammatory reactions in our body. Here, too, we can see the parallels between “non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs” such as diclofenac and ibuprofen and the natural remedy, as they have an inhibitory effect on the same enzyme in the body.
