Tonsillitis | Swelling of lymph nodes in the lower jaw

Tonsillitis

Tonsillitis is a very typical and common clinical picture in school age. It is often based on harmless viral or bacterial inflammations, which, in addition to throat and respiratory tract infections, lead to painful swelling and involvement of the tonsils. Due to their nature and irregular surface, the pathogens can easily stick to the tonsils and cause inflammation. As with many pathogen-induced inflammations of the oral cavity, lymph nodes in neighboring areas such as the lower jaw, neck or above the collarbone can swell in response to the bacteria or viruses and cause the body’s immune response.
