Tumor diseases of the blood

Leukemia is also known as white blood cancer. Cells in the bone marrow and/or lymph nodes multiply malignantly. A distinction is made between acute and chronic leukemias.

Acute leukemias are curable in principle, while chronic leukemias can only be cured by a bone marrow transplant. Those affected often complain of increased sweating at night, unintentional weight loss and an increased susceptibility to infections. The severe weight loss caused by the tumor is known as the disease “cachexia“.

Multiple myeloma, also known synonymously as plasmocytoma, is a malignant disease (tumor) of the B – lymphocytes, which belong to the white blood cells. The B lymphocytes are part of the human defense system and are mainly found in the lymph nodes and blood. By definition, a plasmocytoma is a non-Hodgkin lymphoma with low malignancy and is characterized by the formation of defective immunoglobulins.

Tumor diseases of the lymphatic system

Lymphomas are malignant diseases of the lymphatic system. A distinction is made between Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. The disease can be noticed by swollen lymph nodes – especially in the neck, axillary folds and groin.

Fever, night sweats and weight loss can also occur. Lymph gland cancer is a degeneration of cells in lymph nodes or other lymphatic tissues. There are two different types of lymph gland cancer: Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. In addition to painless swelling of the lymph nodes, those affected can also suffer from fever, night sweats and unwanted weight loss.
