Vinegar essence

With slightly pronounced and/or slightly advanced forms of nail fungus, the affected patients do not necessarily have to resort to aggressive medication. Especially because the freely available ointments and varnishes are quite expensive, it is worthwhile to fall back on cheaper treatment methods for low grade nail fungus. Many simple household remedies can help to contain the fungal infection and to heal the nail fungus completely.

Among the most effective home remedies are vinegar and oils. Above all the regular application of vinegar essence seems to lead with many concerning already after short time to a visible treatment success. The reason for the effectiveness of vinegar essence lies both in its chemical structure and in its solubility properties.

The substance known as vinegar essence is basically a high-dose vinegar. In most cases, vinegar essence is offered as a colorless, strong-smelling liquid. Since vinegar essence belongs chemically to the group of carboxylic acids, it can cause local, slightly corrosive reactions on skin contact.

It is precisely this property that patients affected by nail fungus can take advantage of. Fungal cells require a basic environment (i.e. an environment with a pH value of at least 7.1) in order to multiply. If applied regularly to the infected nail areas, the caustic vinegar essence attacks the fungal cell membranes and begins to dissolve them.

In this way, a reproduction of the pathogens responsible for the nail fungus is prevented and the already existing fungal cells are killed. About three times a day, some vinegar essence should be applied to a absorbent cotton belly and then applied to the infected nail surface.Patients who feel a slight burning sensation around the edges of the nails after application should be careful with the dosage. In many cases local reactions such as redness and other skin irritations can be avoided by applying some skin cream to the skin around the nail.

This way less of the caustic vinegar essence gets on the skin surface. Since vinegar essence is a less potent active ingredient, unlike the typical antimycotic (fungicidal) varnishes and ointments, the treatment must be carried out over many days. In addition, affected patients should make sure to apply the product at regular intervals and not to wash their hands for at least half an hour after application.
