Voltaren resinate

Introduction

Voltaren Resinat® is a drug from the Voltaren product range of the pharmaceutical company Novartis. It contains the active ingredient diclofenac, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-rheumatic drugs (NSAIDs) and has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting an enzyme. This special preparation consists of hard capsules, which are available in pack sizes of 20, 50 or 100 capsules.

Voltaren Resinat® is both pharmacy- and prescription-only, so it may only be taken after a doctor has prescribed it. Apart from the active ingredient, which is present here as the salt diclofenac sodium, Voltaren Resinat® contains the excipients gelatin, medicinal charcoal and magnesium stearate, as well as the colorants iron III hydroxide oxide and titanium dioxide. Voltaren Resinat® contains the active ingredient diclofenac sodium in a dosage of 75 mg.

Dosage

In principle, Voltaren Resinat® should be used exactly as prescribed by the doctor in terms of frequency and duration of use. In principle, however, the following guidelines apply: Depending on the severity of the disease or pain being treated, a maximum daily dose of 150 mg diclofenac sodium should not be exceeded in adults and adolescents from the age of 15 years. Therefore, no more than two tablets of Voltaren Resinat® should be taken per day, preferably spread over the day.

The Voltaren Resinat® capsules should be swallowed whole together with sufficient liquid. To achieve a quick onset of action, it is advisable to take the tablets before a meal. However, if you suffer from a sensitive stomach, it is better to avoid taking the tablets on an empty stomach and swallow them with food.

If a long-term use of Voltaren Resinat® is planned (as is necessary, for example, in the treatment of rheumatic diseases), it is generally recommended to continue the therapy after two weeks at the latest with gastric juice-resistant forms of medication, as these are generally better tolerated. If the pain or the inflammatory conditions do not improve even after taking Voltaren Resinat®, the patient should in any case refrain from increasing the dose of his own accord, but instead inform a doctor and discuss the further procedure with him. Voltaren Dispers® is an alternative to Voltaren Resinat®. However, compared to Volatern Resinat®, Voltaren Dispers® is dissolved in a glass of water and then drunk.
