Vomiting during Pregnancy (Hyperemesis Gravidarum): Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum (vomiting of pregnancy).

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • How often do you experience vomiting? How long has the vomiting been occurring?
  • Do you also have a fever?*
  • Do you have jaundice (yellowing of the eyes, skin)* ?
  • Do you also have water retention?*
  • Do you also have high blood pressure?*
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms such as weight loss or severe thirst?
  • What week of pregnancy are you in?
  • Is the pregnancy otherwise proceeding normally?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you lost weight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).
  • Do you eat a balanced diet?
