What does an air purifier cost?
Air purifiers are available in a price range between 50 and 1000 euros, so it is difficult to make a general statement about the costs. For the application in a private household, devices are available from about 100 euros. However, the quality of the air purifier should not only be measured by the cost.
In order for the device to be effective against potentially allergenic substances, the correct filter strength must be selected. Only then can even the smallest particles be filtered out of the air. Also the operating costs such as for electricity, regular cleaning and possibly the replacement of defective parts should not be neglected when calculating the costs.
Does the health insurance company cover the costs?
Although air purifiers are described by many people as quite effective, their exact effectiveness is not yet sufficiently proven. For this reason, the costs for the acquisition are only rarely covered by health insurance companies. However, if an allergy sufferer does not find a night’s rest due to his strong allergy, an air purifier can still be applied for. In some cases, the health insurance company is willing to cover the costs.
For which allergies is an air purifier suitable?
Air purifiers are especially suitable for allergies where the allergens are transmitted through the air. This includes on the one hand the allergy to house dust. Whereby here regular changing and washing of the bedlinen as well as a consistent cleaning have a larger effect on the development of the allergy.
An air purifier, however, can additionally filter the whirled-up dust particles from the air. People suffering from hay fever benefit from an air purifier especially during the pollen season. While the pollen can be blown away quickly in the free air, they settle in closed rooms.
Pollen from outside also adheres to clothing, which is then released again inside and plagues allergy sufferers. An air purifier in the bedroom, which is switched on for some time and thus cleans the air for the night can therefore be helpful. In addition, clothes that were worn outside should be stored in another room.
Hair from pets that cause allergies can also be filtered out of the room air with the air purifiers, but pets are not recommended if you are allergic to them. Since the air purifiers also filter other pollutants such as pathogens and smoke particles, however, they can be recommended to all allergy sufferers whose airways are easily irritated.
