What types of brackets are available?

Brackets are optimized for the different action goals, which is why there are different types. The standard bracket or twin bracket has two wings, while there are also variants that have only one wing. These are called single – brackets.

Another aspect of differentiation, besides the shape and form of the bracket, is the shape of the lock in which the wire is anchored. There are Edgewise – Brackets, Light – Wire – Brackets and self-ligating brackets. This distinguishing criterion indicates how the wire is fastened into the lock, whether it is closed with a wire ligature made of thin wire or a pin as in the case of Edgewise and Light Wire, or whether it requires no fastening at all as in the case of self-ligating brackets.

The lock of the brackets can vary not only in shape but also in size. Locks of different sizes can anchor wires of different thickness, depending on the force to be applied to the teeth. Furthermore, the brackets can be divided according to their materials such as ceramics, plastics or metals such as gold.
