Which cold baths are available?

The cold baths are divided into the classic full bath, the three-quarter bath and the partial baths. The most effective but at the same time most strenuous for the body is the full bath. Due to the size of many bathtubs, however, usually only a three-quarter bath is feasible.

Either arms or legs are left out of the bath or have to be immersed in the water one after the other. Real partial baths are optionally only for arms or legs. They are by far not so damaging to the circulation, but still have a relaxing effect and can also have a positive effect on colds in the respiratory tract by adding essential oils.

In contrast to other water applications, cold baths are always warm. An alternating bath of warm and cold showers would already put too much strain on the body in the phase when the cold starts. Optionally, essential oils with different functions can be added to the various cold baths.

Depending on the choice of oil, these sometimes have an anti-inflammatory or expectorant effect. Cold teas can also be poured on hot and then added to the cold bath. They usually have an anti-inflammatory effect and also combat the pathogens.

Is it possible to inhale with a cold bath?

A cold bath is basically designed to bathe in it and absorb the bath additives like essential oils through the skin. However, the bath is also automatically accompanied by the fact that the water vapor including additives is inhaled and thus inhaled. Thus, the essential oils act in two different places at the same time.

Inhalation can reduce inflammation of the respiratory tract and essential oils are also very good at dissolving mucus. Preparing a cold bath for pure inhalation is usually not worthwhile. Instead, you should take an inhalation bath, which is specially designed for inhalation. You can find additional information on this under: Inhalation for a cold
