Which food supplements can help?

The following dietary supplements can be considered in the case of arteriosclerosis:

  • The treatment of arteriosclerosis
  • Omega-3 fatty acids can be mentioned as an important dietary supplement in this context. These belong to the monounsaturated fatty acids. Meanwhile these fats, which are usually available in the form of capsules, are available both from fish oil and in a vegan variant in which the omega-3 fatty acids come from vegetable sources.
  • Further Vitamin C belongs to the so-called Supplements, to which a protective effect is assigned regarding the Arteriosklerose.

Vitamin C serves the body as oxidation protection, since cholesterol present in the body must first be oxidized in order to be able to attach itself to the vessel walls. Vitamin C prevents this process, so that it does not come at all to oxidation in the extreme extent. It also has a protective effect on other cells of the human body by slowing down the formation of so-called radicals.

  • Another candidate is the amino acid arginine.

It is already commercially available in numerous variants, i.e. in combination with other substances. But also in its pure form. Arginine is partly produced by the body itself, but can also be supplied from outside.

The amino acid serves the body as a donor of nitrogen, which ensures that the blood vessels relax and thus a larger vessel lumen can develop. Arginine is also said to be able to “rejuvenate” the blood vessels by making them more elastic again. Arginine also helps to lower blood pressure. Since high blood pressure is an immediate risk factor for arteriosclerosis, arginine also works in this passive way to protect against vascular calcification.
