Who treats sleep disorders in children

For children with sleep disorders, the pediatrician in charge is usually the first point of contact. Child and youth therapists can provide help especially for children who suffer from psychological stress or disorders. Therapists have different approaches with which they treat children and adolescents with sleep disorders. Behavioral-therapeutic-oriented therapies are often used. With unclear sleep disturbances children are sometimes examined in a sleep laboratory or spend the night there, where they are cared for by specialists in sleep medicine.

Homeopathy

There are a number of homeopathic remedies that can be used for sleep disorders. In contrast to other therapeutic measures, however, the success of using homeopathic preparations has not been proven by studies. Common remedies include Arnica, Aconitum, Argentum niticum and Chamoilla. But also Ignatia or Cocculus and Staphisagria are said to have a positive influence on sleep disorders.

Duration and prognosis

The duration of a sleep disorder depends on the cause. Unfortunately, it is therefore not possible to make a generally valid statement. With sleep disturbances, which were promoted by counterproductive behaviors it can last some weeks to months until these can be put aside and/or converted.

In most cases, these must be replaced by healthy and sleep-promoting habits. In the case of physical or psychologically associated sleep disorders it is almost impossible to make a statement regarding the duration in advance, as the duration of the sleep difficulties depends on the treatment or therapy and can be very individual.
