X-rays for irritation of the Achilles tendon

With an Achilles tendon inflammation, an inflammatory reaction occurs in the area of the Achilles tendon attachment to the heel bone – similar to tennis elbow – due to incorrect or excessive strain. It therefore often occurs in long-distance runners, especially when the amount of training increases rapidly. The Achilles tendon inflammation is often accompanied by effusion and manifests itself as pain and restricted movement.

In addition to pain and inflammation-relieving medication, as well as rest and physiotherapy, X-ray stimulation radiation can be an effective treatment option. It is gentler and less risky for the tendon than the injection of cortisone, which can further increase the already increased risk of a torn tendon in cases of Achilles tendonitis and is therefore highly controversial among doctors. The X-ray stimulation radiation for the treatment of Achilles tendon inflammation usually consists of 12 sessions.
