Shingles often appears in the chest area and can be treated with the following homeopathic medicines:

  • Apis (honey bee)
  • Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy)
  • Arsenicum album (White Arsenic)
  • Cantharis (Spanish fly)
  • Clematis recta (Upright clematis vine)
  • Iris versicolor (Multicolored Iris)
  • Mezereum (daphne)

Apis (honey bee)

Apis (honey bee) is used in shingles, especially in tablets D6.

  • Initial stage of the disease with swelling and burning, stabbing pain in the affected areas
  • Sleepy patients without thirst
  • Aggravation by heat
  • Improve cold and fresh air

Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy)

  • Initially the feeling of dislocation
  • Numbness, tingling
  • Later burning, stinging pain with redness of the skin
  • Itching, dark red blisters that become purulent
  • Pain better with hot and humid compresses, worse with cold air
  • Very restless patients

Arsenicum album (White Arsenic)

Prescription only up to and including D3! General dosage of Arsenicum album (White Arsenic) : drops D12

  • Very severe, burning pain that gets worse especially at night (between 1 and 3 o’clock)
  • Improvement through hot applications
  • General weakness, nightly restlessness with fear up to the fear of death
  • Thirsty patients, who often drink small portions but never much at once
  • Bubbles turn dark

Cantharis (Spanish fly)

Prescription only up to and including D3! In case of shingles, the following dosage can be used for Cantharis (Spanish fly): Tablets D6

  • Pain is felt like burn pain, better with cold
  • Large confluent bubbles, itching

Clematis recta (Upright clematis vine)

For shingles, Clematis recta (upright clematis) can be used in the following dosage: Tablets D6

  • Stinging pain with severe itching
  • Aggravate cold applications
  • Worse also in the bed heat
  • Small bubbles that quickly burst and crust
