- Angina agranulocytotica – inflammation of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring associated with ulceration (ulcers), indicating agranulocytosis (absence of certain cells of the immune defense).

- Angina Plaut-Vincent – inflammation of the pharyngeal lymphatic ring due to infection with various bacteria, which can lead to necrosis (tissue destruction).
- Diphtheria (real croup) – notifiable infectious disease.
- Herpangina – infectious disease of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring (with vesicle formation), which usually occurs in childhood; the causative agent is group A coxsackie virus.
- Pfeiffer’s glandular fever (mononucleosis infectiosa) – inflammation of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV); occurs mainly in children and adolescents.
- Scarlet angina – infectious disease of childhood, accompanied by a rash all over the body.
- Thrush – fungal infection that leads to whitish coatings on the mucous membrane.
