Structure and properties

Delorazepam (C₁₅H₁₀Cl₂N₂O, M_r = 305.2 g/mol) is a chlorinated and demethylated diazepam (Valium) related to lorazepam (Temesta).

Effects

Delorazepam (ATC N05BA) has antianxiety, sedative, anticonvulsant, and sleep-inducing properties. It crosses the blood–brain barrier and binds in the brain to the GABA_A receptor. It thereby enhances the action of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA in the central nervous system. Delorazepam has a long half-life of over 100 hours.
