Diagnostics | Rash of three-day fever

Diagnostics

To correctly detect the three-day fever in a baby is primarily done through the clinic, i.e. the complex of symptoms to be observed leads to the solution: the typical rapid rise in fever, the corresponding age up to 2 years and above all the subsequent classic skin rash, which follows the drop in fever. Differentiation is a rash in babies against diseases such as chickenpox, measles, rubella or allergic events. Skin irritations caused by medication are also common.

On the one hand, the lack of itching is an indication that most other rashes of the skin are caused by the baby. Another typical symptom of three-day fever is the rash that appears after a drop in body temperature, which in contrast to measles, for example, develops parallel to the fever. Finally, the chronological order of occurrence on different skin regions is important.

The rash in three-day fever initially extends to the trunk and then spreads to the arms and legs (extremities). Rubella and measles show a reverse order. It is also possible to determine in the blood the body’s own defense proteins, so-called antibodies, which are formed against the virus. Of course, other suspected diseases must be excluded by a doctor.

Therapy

The three-day fever is caused by a virus, so antibiotics are not effective. As therapy thus primarily symptomatic measures stand in the foreground and none the cause fighting. In addition belong generally fever-lowering measures like thin clothes or calf wraps.

Antipyretic medication such as fever suppositories or fever juice can also be used. In any case, a doctor should be consulted before administering medication! At present, there is no possibility of vaccination.

It should be ensured that other babies and infants do not have contact with sick babies, because there is a high risk of infection. Treatment aimed at the rash is currently not available, but it would not have any effect on the course or prognosis of the three-day fever. Since the rash is a groundbreaking criterion for the doctor to diagnose, treatment would not necessarily be recommended.

It is recommended to give Aconitum napellus especially against the high fever and the rash. This is a homeopathic medicine which is extracted from the blue wolfsbane. The wolfsbane is very toxic if not homeopathically processed and diluted.

The symptoms for giving this remedy are, besides great anxiety and restlessness, inflammation, high fever, burning and hot skin due to the rash and especially thirst. All this can be accompanied by the high fever and is thus relieved a little. Aconitum napellus is one of the strongest remedies in homeopathy and is often used when the symptoms appear very quickly and with high intensity.

The administration of belladonna is also recommended. This is a homeopathic medicine which is extracted from belladonna. This plant is also very poisonous without sufficient dilution. Belladonna is also given especially in cases of high fever and when the disease develops quickly. Ferrum phosphoricum is also recommended, but rather when the disease is progressing slowly and the fever is not acutely high and the child does not feel so extremely ill.
