Duration
The duration of the pus pimples in the throat and the accompanying symptoms depend on the cause, the immune system of the person affected and individual factors. If causal intolerances or allergies have triggered the symptoms, they usually regress as soon as the allergens are avoided. In the throat area, this can sometimes last a few days, sometimes 1-2 weeks. If there is a weakened immune system or a causal underlying disease, the symptoms last correspondingly longer.
Diagnosis
As a rule, pus pimples in the throat are harmless. However, if they do not heal on their own, cause severe symptoms or occur more frequently, a doctor should be consulted. The doctor will first ask the person concerned himself.
It is helpful if the person affected or the relative thinks about answers to the W questions (what, how, when, where, etc.) before the visit to the doctor. After the questioning, the doctor will take a thorough look at the mouth and throat area.
If there are still complaints in other parts of the body, these will also be examined. The lymph nodes will also be palpated. If necessary, the doctor will take a smear to find the pathogen.
If incompatibilities and allergies are suspected, appropriate allergy tests are carried out. If an immunodeficiency or a related disease is suspected, the parameters in the blood are checked.
