A further danger is the development of resistant germs against the antibiotic.

To prevent urinary tract infections in babies, it is important to ensure that they drink enough. If the baby is still being breastfed, the fluid intake via breast milk is sufficient. It should also be ensured that the baby’s bottom is wiped from front to back. Care should also be taken when washing the baby. Changing diapers regularly, especially after bowel movements, can also prevent urinary tract infections in the baby.

Is a urinary tract infection contagious in a baby?

A urinary tract infection in a baby is not contagious. There is therefore no reason to avoid contact with other babies or children.
