Laboratory parameters of the 1st order – obligatory laboratory tests.
- Small blood count
- Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
- Urine status (rapid test for: pH, leukocytes, nitrite, protein, glucose, blood), sediment, if necessary urine culture (pathogen detection and resistogram, that is, testing of suitable antibiotics for sensitivity / resistance).
- Electrolytes – calcium, potassium, magnesium.
- Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose), if necessary oral glucose tolerance test (oGTT).
- HbA1C (blood glucose long-term value).
- Uric acid
- Liver parameters – alanine aminotransferase (ALT, GPT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST, GOT), glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) and gamma-glutamyl transferase (gamma-GT, GGT), alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin.
- Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, cystatin C or creatinine clearance, if necessary.
- Atherosclerosis parameters:
- Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol.
- Triglycerides
- Homocysteine
Hormone status
- Testosterone [decreased in primary and secondary hypogonadism].
- Sex hormone-binding globulin
- LH (luteinizing hormone)* .
- FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)*
- Prolactin
- TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) – if thyroid disorder is clinically suspected.
- 17-beta estradiol
- Cortisol
* Determination only if testosterone is abnormal.
