Extensive survey of findings

The detailed diagnostic survey contains 2 parts: Anamnesis (collection of the medical history) Here it is recommended to obtain additional information by means of a pain questionnaire, which the patient should fill in at his leisure before the treatment. Physical examination

  • Anamnesis and
  • Physical examination
  • How long have the complaints existed?
  • Was there an initial event? Trigger?
  • How do the complaints express themselves?

    (see symptomatology)

  • What makes the complaints worse?
  • What soothes?
  • What is the everyday burden? What are the biggest problems in everyday life and at work?
  • What medications? (important for passive and active techniques with regard to dosage, e.g. for reduced pain perception)
  • Are there any additional diseases, e.g. overlapping of the pain pattern due to a herniated disc?
  • Are there risk factors for active stress?
  • What are the patient’s goals with regard to treatment?
  • Examination of posture and statics
  • Checking the active movement functions of the spine and extremity joints (arms and legs), mobility in a pain-free area?
  • Investigation of the passive movement function of vertebral joints and extremity joints in order to identify other pain triggers (e.g.B. to rule out joint dysfunction in the spine, herniated disc, shoulder joint problems)
  • Examination of tender points (Dolormeter= device for measuring pain reaction to pressure to assess pain intensity)
  • Examination of muscle tension, trigger points?
  • Checking muscle strength manually or with equipment
  • Testing the cardiovascular capacity (bicycle ergometer)
  • Testing of everyday functions such as walking distance, climbing stairs, bending, lifting
