Fitness Trends 2018

In the past, there was no way around the dance workout Zumba in Germany. What new fitness trends does 2018 have in store for us? New trends like Hot Hula show that dance workouts are still popular in the new year. While Zumba involves dancing to Latin American rhythms, Hot Hula relies on reggae and traditional Polynesian drum music. Those who like it calmer should try aerial yoga. For water rats, on the other hand, aqua bouncing is just the thing. Find out more about the hottest fitness trends of the new year here.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga represents a combination of yoga, acrobatics and strength training. Unlike traditional yoga, the exercises take place in the air rather than on the ground. The new fitness trend from the USA gives course participants the opportunity to stretch and strengthen body parts such as the abdomen and back in a targeted manner. In addition, Aerial Yoga also offers relaxing elements.

Trapezoidal cloths, which look similar to a hammock, are used as aids. However, the two ends of the cloth are attached to only one hook and not two, as in a hammock. The cloth serves as a training tool: you can sit, lie and stand in it, or do gymnastics on the cloth.

Hot Hula

Similar to Zumba, Hot Hula is based on dance elements. However, it relies on different music and different movements. While Zumba uses rather hot Latin American rhythms, Hot Hula focuses on the drum music of the Polynesian indigenous peoples and reggae. Traditional Hula movements are performed to match.

The music and the dancing movements in Hot Hula give the participants the feeling of not sweating in a gym, but of floating over the white sand of a South Sea island. Dancing exercises all the major muscle groups, especially the legs, buttocks and core. The faster the music, the more the cardiovascular system is also put under strain. Classic endurance sports like jogging may be bigger fat burners – but the fun factor is much higher with hot hula.

Piloxing

Piloxing is one of the latest fitness trends from the USA. The workout, which was developed by a Swedish fitness trainer, is a mixture of Pilates, boxing and dancing. The full-body workout increases endurance, but also strengthens muscles and tones the body.

Workout for at home: 14 fitness exercises

At the beginning of a Piloxing session, a few simple step combinations are done first to warm up. Afterwards, the arms are also used and punches are executed in rhythm with the music. By wearing boxing gloves or small weight cuffs on the wrists, the intensity can be further increased. In the Pilates intervals in between, participants can regain some composure, and at the same time the exercises strengthen deeper muscle groups in the abdomen, legs, back and buttocks, thus improving posture.

Aqua Bouncing

Aqua bouncing represents a combination of aqua jogging and trampolining – and offers plenty of fun. On a trampoline sunk into the pool, aqua bouncing involves performing a wide variety of exercises. These not only improve endurance and strengthen the muscles, but also make unsightly orange peel skin disappear.

Since water has a higher density than air, a higher resistance must be overcome when jumping in water – this makes aqua bouncing more effective than normal trampolining. Nevertheless, the water workout is extremely easy on the joints, because the body is almost weightless in the water. That is why aqua bouncing is also well suited for overweight people.

Barre Concept

Barre Concept is a workout that focuses on a ballet barre. It is primarily suitable for women: Because with the help of elements from ballet, Pilates, yoga and strength training, female problem zones such as abdomen, legs and buttocks the fight is declared. The goal of the whole-body training is a graceful ballerina figure.

In the USA, Barre Concept has already been established for around twelve years and has many prominent followers – in 2018, the trend is also spilling over into Germany. The workout not only strengthens the muscles, but also improves flexibility. But the best thing about Barre Concept is that it is suitable for almost any age and any fitness level.
