A forehead lift is used to reduce expression lines of the forehead. Furthermore, drooping eyebrows and upper eyelids can be brought back into shape by a forehead lift. Before surgery
Before surgery, an intensive medical history discussion should be conducted that includes the patient’s medical history and motivation for the procedure. The procedure, any side effects, and the consequences of the surgery should be discussed in detail. Furthermore, you should not take acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), sleeping pills or alcohol for a period of seven to ten days before the operation. The surgical procedure
The forehead lift can be performed under local anesthesia (local anesthesia) or under general anesthesia. Afterwards, you will stay in the clinic for about three to five days. The incision is made behind the hairline so that the scars can be hidden by the hair. The skin, including the eyebrow area, is then detached from the underlying tissues, i.e. muscle, fat and connective tissue. The different tissues can now be corrected. In the case of severe expression lines, part of the musculature is removed. After the tissues have been corrected, the facial skin is reattached. The excess skin is removed along the incision lines. The skin is then reattached using tissue adhesive called fibrin. The edges of the wound are then sutured.
After surgery
Your skin will feel tight at first, and bruising and swelling will occur. Your forehead will feel numb. To reduce swelling, you may use cold compresses and cooling ice packs for the first few days.
Stitches are removed about two weeks after the procedure. The scars will fade over time.
