One of the most important diseases that can occur at this age and therefore need to be examined is ADHD. The abbreviation ADHS means attention deficit syndrome, it is particularly noticeable at a young age and should be treated. However, parents need not worry if their child shows any of these symptoms. ADHD is a difficult diagnosis to make and can only be diagnosed by a child psychiatrist. In the U10, a questionnaire is used to determine the first signs of ADHD.
Another focus of the U 10 examination is the reading and writing weakness. It is often noticed by the teachers, but it is still important to check again whether a reading and writing weakness is present. The doctor will do a short reading and writing test and will also do some simple arithmetic exercises.
If there are any abnormalities in the children, this is not serious. Nowadays, the reading, writing and arithmetic weakness can be treated well. The last item on the examination list is the dental status.
A brief look is taken in the mouth to check if all the teeth are in order and growing straight. If jaw or tooth anomalies are found, an appointment with the dentist should be made.
