Neo Angin®

Neo Angin® is an over-the-counter throat or lozenge tablet available only from pharmacies and contains the active ingredients amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol and levomenthol. All three ingredients are active in the area of the throat and pharynx, where they develop their therapeutic effect, which is why Neo Angin® throat or lozenge tablets are also used for diseases of the throat and/or pharynx. As the drugs are over-the-counter, the patient can go to the pharmacy if necessary and ask the pharmacist to advise him or her whether the Neo Angin® lozenge is a suitable medication.

Differences between lozenges, throat lozenges, spray/ingredients

Neo Angin® is available in different dosage forms. The most common form of Neo Angin® are lozenges or throat lozenges, which can be melted in the mouth like an ordinary sweet. By sucking, the ingredients are released in the throat and pharynx area, which then leads directly to an alleviation of the symptoms on the spot.

It is important to note that there are different strengths of Neo Angin® throat lozenges/lozenges. This means that different amounts of the ingredient levomenthol are contained in the different versions of the lozenges. As a result, Neo Angin® throat lozenges containing more levomenthol have a stronger effect and should therefore not be taken as frequently.

However, the difference is even more important in the case of the spray. The spray contains a much larger quantity of the ingredients dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmetacresol than the throat lozenges, but a much smaller quantity of the ingredient levomenthol. It is therefore important to pay attention to the different dosages. Above all, it is important to ask the doctor or, preferably, the local pharmacist in advance what dosage and dosage form he considers suitable.

Application

The use of the Neo Angin® throat lozenge is limited to the nasopharyngeal area. If an infection and the resulting inflammation occur here, Neo Angin® throat lozenge can help to relieve and improve the symptoms. Neo Angin® Throat Lozenge Lozenge is mainly used as an accompanying measure for symptoms such as sore throat, redness and swelling.

These symptoms can occur with various diseases. Depending on the severity of the illness and as required, Neo Angin® Throat Lozenge Lozenge or the nasal spray should be used with varying frequency. Neo Angin® can also be used in the form of lozenges or the spray for tonsillitis.

Today’s rapid access to antibiotics is considered obsolete for tonsillitis. With the help of Neo Angin® lozenges, patients can relieve the symptoms of tonsillitis, which often disappears after 2 days. However, if the inflammation continues to progress and the pus is more severe, it is essential to see your doctor again so that he can take further action.

It is always important to consult with the treating doctor or pharmacist. Unless otherwise prescribed or advised, Neo Angin® throat lozenges can be used for about 3-5 days, but no longer, even if there is no improvement. The patient can take up to 6 tablets per day (as long as he or she is over 6 years old), which means that one Neo Angin® throat lozenge can be taken every 3 hours (at night, of course, the application is interrupted so as not to disturb the health-promoting sleep).

However, if the patient experiences any side effects, allergic reactions or other problems after using the lozenges, the treatment should not be continued but should definitely be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Also in case of overdose the doctor should be consulted so that he can monitor the further course of the treatment. If the patient has forgotten to take a Neo Angin® throat lozenge, he or she does not need to take a double dose but simply continues the treatment as if he or she had not forgotten a single tablet.

Although this may slightly impair the effect of the treatment, an overdose can have worse consequences, so this should not be done. A little more difficult than with lozenges is the use of throat spray. In this case, 2 shocks should be delivered into the throat area with the spray.

It is important that the patient holds his breath. Like the throat lozenges, the spray can be used up to six times a day for about 4 days.Whether a patient chooses the spray or the Neo Angin® throat lozenges is entirely up to the patient. Nevertheless, due to the different dosage of the ingredients, the procedure should be discussed with the doctor and/or pharmacist so that the doctor is immediately informed of any side effects and can take appropriate measures
