Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of nephrotic syndrome.
Family history
- Is there a history of frequent kidney disease in your family?
Social history
- What is your profession?
- Are they exposed to harmful agents in your profession?
Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- Have you noticed water retention on the body? Morning swelling of the eyelids, lower legs, etc.?
- Have you noticed blood in the urine?
- Have you noticed any other symptoms such as headaches?
Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.
- Has your body weight changed unintentionally?
- Has urine changed in color, quantity, odor, etc.?
Self history including medication history.
- Pre-existing conditions (renal disease, hypertension, infectious diseases, tumor diseases).
- Operations
- Allergies
- Environmental history (cadmium, gold, palladium, mercury).
Drug history
- Bisphosphonates (v .a. palmindronate).
- D-penicillamine (chelating agent)
- Interferon
- Lithium
- NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
- Rifampicin (tuberculostatic drug)
