Overtraining and the consequences

If overtraining occurs, the direct consequences are first of all a lack of performance increase, which quickly develops into a drop in performance because the body is no longer able to maintain the level. Besides increased aggressiveness, listlessness and general weakness, overtraining can also lead to hormonal changes.Hormones that are necessary for muscle building are only produced in smaller amounts and testosterone production can also decrease. This can lead to massive muscle loss.

Overtraining can also weaken the immune system so that infections and allergies can occur. In addition to the susceptibility to disease, the muscles and the muscular support system are also particularly affected. It can lead to muscle injuries, inflammation in joints, damage to tendons and ligaments and weak muscle contraction.

If you do not pay attention to the symptoms and signs of your body for overtraining or do so much too late, depression can also occur in pronounced cases and the quality of life can thus be significantly reduced. At this point at the latest, one should take a break before the body pulls the emergency brake and refuses to work.
